Valentia Clear Lift Revitalizing Serum ($35.00) is a lactic acid-based serum that is supposed to moisturize, minimize fine lines. even out hyperpigmentation, renew texture and tone, increase elasticity. I’ve had a facial before that included lactic acid and it came out beautiful. So when the brand sent over the serum, I was quite excited to give it a go!

Even with a photographic history, sometimes it’s really hard to keep track of changes in the skin. My primary skin concern is acne scarring, which for me, is really unavoidable. I get hormonal acne and sometimes random pimples and they always leave their marks behind. So as I was analyzing my before and after photos, I was becoming frustrated on the lack of change in the scarring, besides the natural healing process.
My secondary skin concern are fine lines around my eyes and crows feet when I smile, but I know, short of surgery, you’re stuck with crow’s feet. Also, they’re only noticeable when I smile so it doesn’t bother me as much as the acne scars.
But something else very impressive happened while using this serum. Something that couldn’t really be captured in photos: the texture of my skin was different. It is more radiant and glowy and smooth! When I started the serum my skin was depressed. And I mean that in every sense; it was sad, and not that smooth, and even though I have naturally oily skin, it just felt crusty and kind of rough from my enlarged, clogged up pores. I went to get a facial last week, and the esthetician actually complemented me on the texture of my skin. I was truly shocked and I immediately knew it was from the Valentia Serum.
Another important thing I noticed was when it was time for my hormonal acne to kick in… it didn’t! I have had one pimple since using this serum every morning and night! This is really exciting for me because if it’s helping to prevent hormonal breakouts, the acne scars I get from them will also be prevented! So while it didn’t lighten my scars very much, it is directly “protecting” me against them.
The serum is light on the skin and isn’t sticky at all. I use two pumps of this in the morning and at night and massage it into my skin. The directions instruct you to use it at night, but I use it in the morning too. I also make sure to use sunscreen, in case the lactic acid has some undesirable reaction with the sun. I use this right after my Missha mist.
Now for a look at the ingredients! (from Valentia.com)
Specially selected ingredients:
Wakame Bioferment (Seaweed): Increases skin oxygen consumption to detoxify and boost antioxidant defenses.
Gotu Kola: Lessens the appearance of scaring from acne and hyperpigmentation, and increases skin firmness.
Lactic Acid: A natural Alpha Hydroxy Acid (AHA) that increases skin cell turnover, for healthier renewed skin.
Licorice: Lightens unwanted pigmentation & corrects skin discoloration.
Argan Oil: Naturally rich in Vitamin E, this oil reduces water loss and protects skins resiliency and elasticity.
Below is the actual ingredient list. I have bolded the ingredients above to show where they stand on the list. The Undaria Pinnatifida Cell Culture Extract is another name for the Wakame Bioferment (Seaweed). It is interesting that the Orange Hydrolsol is first on the list as this serum does smell very much of oranges. But not that ovewhelming citrusy scent. This smells heavenly!
Citrus Aurantium (Orange Hydrosol), Organic Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice (Aloe Vera), Hamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel), Cassia Angustifolia Seed Polysaccharide (botanical hyaluronic acid), Globularia Cordifolia Callus Culture Extract (plant stem cells), Sodium Lactate, Undaria Pinnatifida Cell Culture Extract, Organic Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba Oil), d-Alpha Tocopheryl Acetate (Vitamin E), Organic Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice), Wildcrafted Arnica Montana (Arnica), Organic Argania Spinosa (Argan Oil), Proprietary Silk Protein Amino Acid Blend, Acrylates/C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, (2s)-2-Amino-5-guanidinopentanoic Acid, Citrus Clementia Hort ext Tan (Clementine Essential Oil), Camellia Oil, Organic Rosa Canina (Rosehip Seed Oil), Organic Centella Asiatica (Gotu Kola), Wildcrafted Equisetum Arvense (Horsetail), Wildcrafted Taraxacum Officinale (Dandelion), Wildcrafted Geranium Maculatum (Wild Geranium), Alcohol, Lecithin, Ethylhexyl Glycerin, Phenoxyethanol.
I definitely recommend this serum for the overall health of your skin and it’s retexturing power.

Glad to hear this product was a good fit for you. I don't get bumps often but when I do I certainly don't want them to leave a scar. That is my biggest fear.
