High Joy Alert: Then I Met You Cleansing Balm

Just when you think you’ve seen and felt it all on your face, something great comes along and says, “Hey, now, look at me!” I received the Then I Met You Living Cleansing Balm several months ago (maybe even a year!) and have been totally smitten with it. It’s unlike any cleansing balm I have ever used and I really enjoy using it.

My skin type

My skin is pretty normal these days. Since we are all pretty much stuck in the house, my skin has not been producing as much oil as it usually does. I do still have some fading PIH, but it doesn’t bother me as much as it used to.

What it’s supposed to do

From the brand:
Our oil cleanser combines a blend of lightweight grape seed, olive and seaberry oils. Hints of rosemary, persimmon and grapefruit make this a sensorial, aromatic experience designed to delight your senses and leave your skin soft and clean.

Ingredients

Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil, Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Oil, Cetyl Ethylhexanoate, PEG-20 Glyceryl Trii-sostearate, PEG-8 Isostearate, Cera Microcristallina (Microcrystalline Wax/Cire Microcristalline), Hippophae Rhamnoides (Sea Buckthorn) Oil, Ceresin, Synthetic Wax, Orbiignya Oleifera Seed (Babasu) Oil, Diospyros Kaki (Persimmon) Fruit Extract, Aniba Rosaeodora (Rosewood) Wood Oil, Citrus Paradisi (Grapefruit) Peel
Oil, Rosemarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Oil, Tocopheryl Acetate, 1,2-Hexanediol, Bis-Diglyceryl Polyacyladipate-2, Ethylene/Propylene Copolymer

How I use it

Dry, still made up face. Take a bit out on the spatula and rub it all over, giving myself a little massage. Rinse and follow up with a second cleanser.

What I like about it

It reminds me of Blue Magic hair grease in a nostalgic, really simple, this-shit-works kind of way. I sometimes miss that about life. Mind you, it does not smell like Blue Magic lol. It’s just really satisfying to use to wash your makeup off with and has a similar texture. It’s a texture that I haven’t seen in a cleansing balm and doesn’t burn my eyes or break me out. I love it. It removes all of my heavy base makeup without a problem.

What could be better

Product-wise: nothing! It’s unique and somewhat innovative; something the skincare/beauty industry really needs. I can’t find a fault with this.
