I love a good beauty set. Even more, I love a good skincare set because not only do you get to try a bunch of different things at once, you get to take them with you if you’re traveling. Sometimes, there isn’t enough product in skincare sets to form an opinion on the product, but I’d say the Biossance Weightless Hydration Essentials ($34.00) is different in that respect. The set includes:
– 0.4 oz/ 11.8 mL 100% Squalane Oil
– 0.13 oz/ 4 mL Squalane + Vitamin C Rose Oil
– 0.13 oz/ 4 mL Squalane + Peptide Eye Gel
– 0.34 oz/ 10 mL Squalane + Probiotic Gel Moisturizer
– 4 x Squalane + Antioxidant Cleansing Cloths
My skin type
Oily but I am suspicious it is transitioning to normal. Since the weather has changed, I have been waking up with noticeably drier skin.

How I use it
When I used the set, my regimen consisted of almost all of the products; I obviously didn’t use the squalane and the squalane + rose oil together but everything else got used together.
What I like about it
Almost all of the products worked for me. The four antioxidant cleansing cloths were the biggest surprise; I didn’t think they would be as great as they are but one cloth removed my makeup better than a regular makeup remover cloth, likely due to the squalane. It did not, however, remove mascara from my lashes, waterproof and regular. While it says you don’t need to rinse it, the cloths leave a layer of oil on your face. For me, that gave me the feeling of uncleanliness. However, I could not help but notice how soft my face was after using the cloths, even though it felt like I was rubbing too hard. Since there were only four cloths in the set, I followed up differently. I double-cleansed once, to remove the waterproof mascara, I used a second cleanser twice, and for the last cloth, I used my Son & Park Beauty Water on a large cotton pad, which sufficiently made my face feel clean enough that I didn’t feel the need to do a proper cleanse and it removed excess mascara on my lashes.
I’ve reviewed the squalane oil and squalane + rose oil before; nothing has changed about those two but I did forget how nice these oils were.
The squalane eye gel, I don’t have many thoughts on. I use two pumps for each eye are and massage around my eye area and brow bone for a time. It’s a nice gel, but there was nothing particularly memorable about it.
The gel moisturizer, I’ll talk about under “what could be better.”
What could be better
I did not like the gel moisturizer. I tried using it before and after either of the squalane oils. Using it before the oil made the products pill. Using it after seemed to absorb the oil and it pilled, which was unfortunate because the squalane + rose oil feels quite nice. So pills, pills, pills no matter how I applied it. I realized if I used the gel moisturizer, I had to follow up with something heavier. Currently I’m using Kate Somerville’s ExfoliKate Glow Moisturizer, which clears up the pilling problem or my handy dandy sleeping mask.
Even if the gel moisturizer does leave the skin brighter and more balanced (whatever that means) with time, the pilling is a deal-breaker for me, if I were considering a full-sized product.
Another note about the clenasing cloths: they are kind of on the thin side. I think that caused me to wipe harder than normal. I think it would be awesome if these were thicker!
