Time for part two of my spring beauty haul!
Clinique Pep Start SPF 50 and Shiseido Ultimate Sun Protector Lotion
I am a big fan of the Shiseido Ultimate Sun Protector Lotion. The texture is more gel-like, and it goes on so smooth. There’s absolutely no white cast and my make up looks great on top of it. I don’t think I’ve ever used a sunscreen quite like this one. Now on the other hand, the Clinique Pep Start SPF 50 sunscreen has all of the white cast you could ask for, but also makes my make up look amazing. Unfortunately, white cast is a dealbreaker for me. I need to be able to wear a sunscreen without having to wear makeup. Of the two, the Shiseido sunscreen is the obvious winner for me.
Hourglass Transcendent Light Powder
The Hourglass Ambient Lighting Finishing Powder in Transcendent Light drew me in completely due to the marketing photos. It is described as warm sienna, and from the pictures, I thought it would be a lot darker than what I received. While I was struck by the difference, at first, this powder, nevertheless, is quite beautiful, just like all of the other hourglass powders. I will be reviewing this magnificence.
Benefit Flora Tint
I love a Benefit tint! I think Benefit’s tints are some of the most underrated beauty products on the market. Just like its cousins, the Flora Tint leaves a natural flush of color and can be built up as vibrant as you’d like. The only one of these I don’t have is Cha Cha, but I reckon that should change. There’s no reason why I should not have all four of these. Oh, and they will last you a long, long time because a little bit goes a long way. Perhaps a comparison review is in order?
Ellis Brooklyn Salt
This Ellis Brooklyn Salt Eau de Parfum was an impulsive purchase, if there ever was one. I was drawn to the summer baby blue color of the packaging and read in the reviews that it smells like summer and all I could do was think about how I wanted to smell like summer — especially since I’m going to be in Miami soon. I went for the travel size since I bought this blind and had no idea how it would smell. I get why it’s a summer scent; here are the fragrance notes:
- Top: ylang-ylang, violet leaves absolute.
- Middle: Tahitian tiare, magnolia dianica.
- Base: musk, ambergris, sandalwood
You really have to be in love with the scent because it lasts all. day. long. Having said that, it’s not my favorite, but I was impressed with how long it lasts.
Bobbi Brown Skin Weightless Powder Foundation
The Bobbi Brown Skin Weightless Powder Foundation is a total winner! Not only does it cover, but it blurs your skin, is matte in finish, long-lasting, and matches my complexion perfectly. I purchased the shade Chestnut. I wear this on its own and over liquid foundation. In fact, I have the liquid foundation of the same ilk and I love that, too. You can read that review here. They are both quite lovely.
Bare Minerals Mineralist Lip Liner – Calming Cocoa
I haven’t worn brown lip liner since high school. For whatever reason, I had taken a strong stance in the past against brown lip liner because I don’t believe it should be needed in order to have a nude lip on dark skin that looks good. Well, I guess I could say I’ve grown a little? But just a little. The bareMinerals Mineralist lip liner in Calming Cocoa is really pretty. Below, I’m wearing it with Charlotte Tilbury Very Victoria lipstick. It looks great!
Kopari Body Products
I initially only had the Kopari Sun Shield Soft Glow Daily Face in my cart, but then came across the Rose Gold Sun Shield and was like, um… yes! The Pink Glow Exfoliating Body Polish ended up in my cart because why the hell not? I have already tried the body polish and it’s interesting. while it makes my skin oh, so smooth after applying lotion, it’s sort of difficult to use. Still working on that. Very excited to try the sunscreen and glow in the Rose Gold Sun Shield!
Nails Inc Serving Swirls Nail Polish Set
Hello Summer! I love Nails Inc’s nail polish formula! I jumped on the Serving Swirls Set (that has since sold out at Sephora) when I saw it was on sale. The set includes four vibrant shades:
OCEAN STREET – is a soft green
TIDE WAY –is an aqua blue
WATER MEWS – is a cornflower blue
WAVERLEY ROAD – is a pastel lilac
So far I have only tried Water mews (on my toes) and it compliments my dark skin wonderfully. Pick up this set – it’s available at Anthropologie.
