Today, I’m showing off some new makeup I picked up from the Rare Beauty line. I’d been hearing good things about the brand and wanted to try a few things. The Selena’s Faves 4 Piece Mini Set was the perfect way to try out a few of the products. The set comes with the Soft Pinch Liquid Blush in Joy, a Liquid Luminizer in Mesmerize, a Matte Lip Creme in Inspire, and a mini Mascara.
Other makeup: Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Soft Matte Foundation (shade 440); Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer (Hazelnut), Makeup Revolution Banana Powder, Benefit Hoola Toasted Bronzer, Milk Makeup Kush Liquid Eyeliner, Dior 5 Couleurs Eyeshadow Palette – Atelier Dore (469), ABH Dip Brow Pomade – Ebony.
The standout item in the set is the Soft Pinch Liquid Blush in Joy. At first glance, I didn’t think it would work for my skin tone – the brand calls it a muted peach and it swatches like a pastel-like orange. All you need is a tiny dot on the cheek – and I mean tiny! – and blend out. Talk about shook. I was like, ok Selena! I put a tiny dot next to the swatches below for reference.
I only used a touch of the Liquid Luminizer as well, but you can make this as highlighter as strong as your heart desires. I was already going strong with glitter on my eyelids so I decided to keep the highlight safe.
The Lip Soufflé Matte Cream Lipstick was the “hardest” to work with. It’s very unforgiving to dry, peeling lips. I had to layer it on to cover the dryness. I recommend using a lip scrub before using this lipstick. The great news is, it lasted me several hours through eating and drinking with very minimal transfer. This was surprising since it does not appear to dry all the way down. I’m a fan of this lipstick, with reservations: no chapped lips! Inspire is a bright red that pulls a little bit orange on me.
The Volumizing Mascara was decent. The small nature of the packaging made it a little bit awkward for application to my lashes. I felt like I really had to maneuver to get all my lashes together. This will likely not be an issue if you decide on the full-size version of the mascara.
Overall, I’m really impressed with this set and the line in general. There are several other things I can’t wait to try.
