I was very excited to try out this Tom Ford Lip Color, as it was part of one of my very first purchases from the brand. I went safe, with sort for a nude and picked up the shade Warm Sable, which I would describe against my skin tone as nutmeg.
My skin type
My lips are dry and often peel. The formula of this lipstick is moisturizing enough, but I still use lip balm before hand. The color doesn’t emphasize my dry lips either.
How I use it
I apply the color straight out of the tube to my lips. It goes on fully opaque in a couple swipes.
What I like about it
I like that it’s an everyday color and I love the packaging and design. It would be ridiculous of me to complain about the price; this was a treat to myself and I knew very well how much I was going to pay for it. It really does give a sense of luxury and it gives me much pleasure to use. The packaging is just so sleek and classy. Amazingly, I don’t have a shade like this in my collection.
What could be better
I noticed immediately after first use that the lipstick smelled… off. It smelled like clay. My friend Renee let me smell hers and it smelled like vanilla. A bit disappointing, I must say but my laziness got the best of me and I didn’t exchange it. It’s not overwhelming just strange and gives me the idea that something is wrong with it. I decided to keep it anyway and the smell is now an afterthought. I will definitely be looking out for this on my next lipstick purchase from the brand.
Joy Factor
On a scale of 1-10, this lipstick is an 8. I am getting a lot of use out of it because it’s an everyday shade, the formula is pretty good, and it’s my most expensive lipstick so I’m going to use the hell out of it!
