I picked up Avalon ($8.00), a true golden bronze highlighter, and Cheerio ($8.00), a deep cranberry, satin finish blush from ColourPop a while back and now it’s time for swatches and a review. Also, stay tuned to a FOTD using these two.
First off, I’m not a huge fan of highlighter in general because most of them emphasize my large pores. Sad, I know. I prefer something more on the matte side when it comes to blush and highlighter because I usually wear matte makeup; gotta keep that oily skin in check. Sometimes, I wish I was that girl that can opt for dewy makeup, but alas! That is not me. The oil takes over and it is not attractive. Anywho, I generally use a light hand with highlighters just so when the sun hits my face all the gods turn to look at me (HAHA) and tend to go heavier on the blush. Blush can be another meh product for me too because a lot of them, no matter the color, turn out looking the same on me. Nonetheless, I love wearing blush. Makes me look happy, even when I’m not.
Avalon is just gorgeous. I sometimes wear it alone as a bronzer with no blush, but most of the time, I layer it on my cheekbones and temples over a blush. It’s perfect for deep-toned ladies. I like Cheerio as well, but it turned out to be a lot more satiny than I thought it would. Still a beautiful product, but I find myself reaching more Swift more than Cheerio. That’s about three layers of blush in the swatch so it’s quite pigmented and also a good option for dark skin tones. I have used a tapered blush brush with Cheerio, but a regular blush brush seems to work a lot better for me.
I think I will stock up on all the matte ColourPop blushes before they disappear. So affordable and high quality!
