I’m in between relaxers and I don’t live near a beauty supply store. There isn’t even one near my job and I have found that I have to go out of my way to find products that suit my hair texture. As a result, I mostly order hair products online. But the other day, I put a sew-in in my hair and I realized that my new growth just wasn’t going to cut it with the condition my natural hair was in. I considered just buying a box perm from CVS until I came across this 6 Week Anti Reversion Cream Serum from Dark and Lovely. It was pricey at $11.99. I usually purchase the Olive Oil relaxer from Amazon, and my last order of it was about half the price. This varies though with Amazon depending on the seller so I keep my eyes open when the price drops.
So this product claims to prevent curls, kinks, and waves up to 6 weeks while you are in between relaxers. It alleges humidity blocking technology, frizz control and locking in shine… officially

*With weekly use after each time you shampoo and condition your hair.
As far as my personal experience goes for this product it was less than impressive. Frankly,I cannot say that it’s done anything it says it’s supposed to do. I followed the directions and applied to wet hair, blow dried, and flat ironed. And yes, my hair became straighter but there is no difference between me using this cream combined with the heat and not using this cream with the heat.
One of the asterisks says with weekly use after each time you shampoo and condition your hair. The major problem I have with this product, besides that it didn’t work, is that it forces you to put heat on your hair weekly– which I am not interested in doing at all. This cannot be compromised. So needless to say, this will be a one time only use product for me.
Now why do I say it didn’t work? Well, I blow dried and flat ironed my hair and it got straighter than it was. But it didn’t blow my socks off and it didn’t become as straight as it does when I relax. In fact, it has been two days since I used it, and my roots are curling back up. I haven’t wet my hair or anything. It just plain DOES NOT WORK.

So in a nutshell, my hair, that needed a relaxer, reverted back to the state it was prior to using this product two days after I used it. Now I will say that my ends do feel smoother, something it doesn’t really says it does. Not really what I was looking for but at least it’s something.
If there’s anyone that has had a different experience with this product, I would love to hear about it. This is a no-go for me.
