Today officially marks the beginning of my one month makeup no-buy! It’s going to be hard but I can do it! I’ll just have to busy myself with other things… but on to the ColourPop Ultra Matte Lip in Solow ($6.00).
On a good day, this lippie works for me. The key is not to be lazy about it. This one isn’t as horrible as Mars, but it’s also not as consistent and awesome as Tulle. Most of the time I have to remove and reapply if I don’t get it right the first time. As a result, I don’t wear this one as often as I like.

Solow is described as a neutral nude pink. As neutral as it is, it’s still pretty bright. It kind of reminds me of cotton candy. It applies a little bit streaky and I generally need to let the first layer dry down (these dry down matte) and apply a second. Sometimes I put too much and it makes me look like a clown; as I said earlier, I usually have to remove and try again if I don’t get it right the first time.

As far as longevity, Solow lasts on me about 5 hours. I’m generally afraid to reapply right over it so when I wear this I just remove it after eating and use lip balm for the rest of the day.
I’ve got one more of these to test, Ouiji, but when I first applied it, it reminded me of Mars. Boo. If you can believe it, I am thinking of giving my lips a little break from liquid lipsticks. They aren’t the most moisturizing in the world and apparently I have a small makeup attention span! That may not stop me from checking out their newly released line of Ultra Mattes, AFTER my makeup no-buy is over, of course! With these, I think it would be smart of me to stay away from the neon and pastel colors. Those seem to have issues with application for me.
Til next time! Thanks for reading.
