ColourPop’s Lippie Pencil in Monkey is an interesting shade on me. It’s described as a mid-tone bright bubble gum pink, and I’d say that’s pretty darn accurate. After I swatched it, I thought it was too bright and might not match my skin tone as I imagined. I’m still on the fence about Monkey, but it doesn’t look as bad as I thought it would.
It did not perform as great as I Heart This, and needed reapplication desperately after a plate of Panang curry. I’m assuming since it’s such a light color, it didn’t last as long; on me, it wore for about 3 hours (due to the curry) and I did find it drying. I think if it had more pigment, it would last longer (and I’d probably like it more). Application was a bit rough; it did not go on smoothly and I really had to color my lips in to get full cover and good opacity. I had to apply balm over it to make it look less like a lip pencil and more like a lip color.

I’m not sure how much wear I will be getting out of Monkey. If it were more pigmented, or I fancied the lippie stix, I would probably use it more often. I think it’s something I would wear if I were in the mood for pink!
