I have been hollering about how great Make Up For Ever Mat Velvet+ Foundation is for years. Somehow, I haven’t reviewed it on my blog, which is mind-blowing. I used to have a YouTube video on it, but it was so outdated and not the best representation of its glory. No matter how many foundations I try, Mat Velvet+ will always be my boo, my first love, bae, my knight in shining armor, definitely on holy grail status. If you prefer a matte face, it should also be your boo because it doesn’t get any better than this!
I am an 85 in this foundation (usually only sold online, as the shade is rarely ever in stock in-stores at Sephora), and sometimes I use 80, if I need it right away (always at Sephora). The two shades are fairly similar, except I think 85 has more of a red undertone. For that reason, this is primarily my summer foundation for when I am darker, but I also use it in the winter months as the difference is minimal.
Immediately after applying, the red undertone is apparent, but after about 5-10 minutes, it settles into my skin like butter and looks amazing! I find that in my many years of using this foundation, it’s best applied with a stippling brush. I squeeze a pea-sized amount on the back of my hand, dip the stippling brush in the foundation a few times and dab the product on both my cheeks, forehead, and chin. I then blend it all in with the same stippling brush, resulting in a beautiful finish. It lasts on me all day and it usually never looks like I need to reapply.
Again, if you haven’t tried this foundation, and you prefer matte face, you should go and get it at your earliest convenience!
Other makeup in this post: Brows on Point Billion Dollar Brows Micro Pencil in Taupe (review here), Anastasia Beverly Hills Artist Palette on eyes (swatches here), Myipkn Gelstealer Pen Liner (review here), Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-hr Blush in Flush, Becca Ultimate Concealing Creme in Chestnut (review forthcoming), Ben Nye Banana Powder, Bite Beauty Matte Lip Creme Lip Crayon in Glace.
I chose the Bite Beauty Matte Lip Crayon in Glace as an 100 point reward at Sephora. I was in line checking out with two other nude colors and was kind of regretful for choosing this, but I am so glad I did because it’s gorgeous. I’m not sure why this is called matte, because I don’t feel like it is. It’s very creamy and moisturizing and has more of a satin finish than matte to me. It glides on pretty opaque as well. This is a great nude option for me. It’s a pretty large sample so I highly recommend this as a reward and would definitely purchase the full-sized product.

I reckon I will have to get the eye pencils that you told me about when I get home. Went to all the MUF counters here in Seoul, and they were all sold out. Must be an amazing line!
