So we need to talk about ColourPop’s complexion products. I had pretty high expectations for them, as ColourPop has rightfully earned that reputation. I purchased the No Filter Concealer in Dark (48), two of the foundations, and two setting powders in the shades Banana and Deep Dark. When you spent $40, ColourPop threw in a free foundation brush.
Skin overview
Type: Oily and imperfect; fading acne scars on cheeks and chin
Texture: Tiny icepick scars on my cheeks; relatively smooth elsewhere
Tones: neutral-to-yellow
Concealer
What it’s supposed to do
From the brand: A lightweight, creamy, full-coverage concealer formulated with soft-blurring pigments to create the ultimate matte, flawless complexion.
Ingredients
Water, Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone, Caprylyl Methicone, Butylene Glycol, Silica, Cetyl Diglyceryl Tris(Trimethylsiloxy)Silylethyl Dimethicone, Peg-10 Dimeticone, Dimethicone/Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Phenyl Trimethicone, Alumina, Isopropyl Titanium Triisostearate, Sodium Chloride, Bis-Peg-15 Dimethicone / Ipdi Copolymer, Peg-2 Soyamine, Phenoxyethanol, Caprylyl Glycol, Trimethylsiloxysilicate, Trisodium Edta, Polypropylsilsesquioxane, Potassium Sorbate, Hexylene Glycol, Pesudoalteromonas Exopolysaccharides, Citric Acid, Sodium Salicylate, Plankton Extract, Iron Oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499), Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891).
How I use it
I use this shade solely underneath my eyes to bring some brightness there and distract from the eye bags I have. I will set it with a powder, either Laura Mercier’s or a banana powder. I often alternate between Ben Nye and Essence Brighten Up Powder.
What I like about it/What could be better
The concealer was the best purchase out of the bunch, even though I think it’s too bright for me. It reminds me of the LA Girl Pro Concealer in Toffee, but that doesn’t take away from the performance of it. It reminds me a little bit of Laura Mercier Flawless Fusion Concealer in how smooth it is. I like the performance of it and would consider repurchasing it in a different color. It doesn’t crease or separate either, musts in concealers for me.

How I use it
190 is the darker of the two shades I purchased, in that it had redder undertones, so I decided to start with that one. I would describe it as medium- to full-coverage.
A look at the foundation with flash |
Dark setting powder applied on left side of face |
I used the same dense brush to apply Dark Setting Powder I used to apply the foundation, as I usually do. I have been using this one for a couple years and it’s amazing. Initially, I attempted to use the foundation brush I received in the haul, but that did not work out swimmingly for me.
Banana Powder applied under eye area |
I generally use an angled face brush like this one to apply any powder going underneath my eyes. That resulted in pure tragedy when I tried that with this banana powder.
A closeup of the texture of the powders… whew, chile! |
Banana Powder with flash |
I really want to emphasize how bad the texture of this powder is. Reminded me a little of corn meal. |
Every imperfection grabbed on to this powder; I have never experienced anything like this. |
I attempted to salvage this look by going heavy on the blush and adding red, exotic lips to distract from the powder. |

What I like about it/What could be better
The loose setting powders are probably the worst beauty products I have ever tried. If not, they are high up there on the list! The foundation is basic and not very sophisticated in formula based on application; you certainly get what you pay for in this case! Really surprised that ColourPop released such awful quality products, especially the setting powders. I wonder if the pressed powders are better than these. The foundations are $12.00 a piece and the setting powders are $9.00 each. I say save your money on these. For a foundation that’s comparable in price, but superior and actually almost half the pricer, try The Ordinary’s Coverage Foundation. This experience has definitely made me want to try other drugstore/budget loose setting powders to see if there is something better out there in that price range. As of now, I am sticking to my Laura Mercier and I also recently purchased the new Lancome Setting Powder, which so far, I am impressed with.

No Filter Foundation in 185, No Filter Concealer, and Banana Powder applied with a damp beauty sponge.
The shade 185 has more yellow undertones than 190.
Concealer and foundation applied. I used a dense face brush for the foundation. |

Definitely not as bad as using the powder dry, but still not ideal. |
What I like about it/What could be better
This method had better results but it was then I decided I would give up on the powders. The amount of time it takes to get it looking decent isn’t worth it to me.
No Filter Foundation 185, No Filter Concealer, Laura Mercier Translucent Powder in Medium Deep, Ben Nye Banana Powder
How I use it
This time, I decided to not use the setting powders and go in with Laura Mercier’s Translucent Powder in Medium-Deep on top of the No Filter Foundation in 185 |
I then used Ben Nye Banana Powder for brightening underneath my eyes and other areas on my face. |

What I like about it/What could be better
From this exercise, I decided that the foundations are just ok; I have tried some L’Oreal and Maybelline foundations in the past that are much better. The setting powders are canceled. The concealer is superior to everything in the No Filter collection that I have tried and is the only thing I had no trouble with.
The Foundation Brush
Booooooooooo. Boooooooooooo!
I hated it. I tried it with the No Filter Foundation and with other cream and liquid foundations and it still left my foundation all streaky in both instances. The door!
