23 Years Old Masks | Cocoon Willow Silky Mask | Black Cavidol Mask

The 23 Years Old Masks are likely the weirdest masks I have tried. I think I feel more creepy in these than the Daiso Silicone mask. I bought these because they were fancy-looking and fancy-sounding. They were on the expensive side for a sheet mask at $5 a pop (I bought them in NYC), but the packaging totally drew me in. I was, however, surprised to see what it looked like… just keep scrolling 👽

My skin type

Oily, pores larger than I’d like them to be, scarring (PIH) on cheeks and chin

What it’s supposed to do

Black Cavidol Mask

Moisturize and “rejuvenate.” I took that last part with a grain of salt. This mask is supposed to provide moisture.

Cocoon Willow Silky Mask

Moisturize and brighten.

When I first opened the mask (I used the Cocoon Willow Silky Mask first), I was surprised to see how thick it was. I also thought it was one of those creamy/milky masks, which I’m not a fan of because they almost always leave me with a zit. I was happy to see after I unfolded it, that it was not. It was drenched in serum, though. I like the thickness of these masks, but that unfortunately did not contribute to more moisture. I also like that they extend down past your chin so you have extra material to go under your chin.

Black Cavidiol Mask

The most interesting thing about this mask was that it had little black flecks in it, which I assume is supposed to be the caviar. I don’t actually know if it was in fact little flecks of caviar, or what it would otherwise do to my skin. I have seen some skincare advertising caviar as a luxury ingredient, but I’m just not buying that as something that improves anything having to do with my skin. I also haven’t seen any research stating that it does. All that aside, the mask did an ok job of moisturizing my skin; it was left smooth and slightly sticky and became very soft after the serum stage.

Unlike the Black Cavidiol Mask, I left this one on for 20 min but felt like it was drying out after 10. It still felt moist to the touch, though. While I like that there was fabric that extended to under the chin, it was flappy the entire time. I experienced this issue with and without the Daiso cover. My face felt smooth after use but not particularly moisturized. I didn’t notice any special brightening powers either.

Joy Factor

On a scale of 1-5, these masks are a 2. I wasn’t a fan of the mouth being covered up. I couldn’t laugh, talk, drink, nothing. It didn’t make my lips any softer either. The flappity flap that was supposed to be for my chin, kept falling down and in the end, I really had to sit still and just let the mask work.
