Great Moisturizer for Oily Skin: Erborian Bamboo Creme Frappee

This moisturizer is great. Can you tell I like it?

Sometimes it’s hard to rate a moisturizer, especially if it doesn’t have any multitasking properties. The Erborian Bamboo Creme Frappee ($43.00) is just a moisturizer that moisturizes your skin. Nothing more, nothing less. I like that the brand doesn’t claim that it does some out-of-this-world thing like make wrinkles disappear. Simple, and to the point. I also love the way it smells (like a fresh, sweet cucumber) and the way it feels on my skin. On those days where I am a bit lazy or super sleepy, I find myself using only this.

I realize that I love the way this feels on my skin because it’s full of silicones. I’m sure some people may not like that, but I am not at a place in life where I’m ready to judge silicones in skincare. I don’t have enough information on it, nor have I done my own extensive individual research. As far as its ability to deliver product and make things sink into your skin, I’m fine with that.

The Bamboo Frappee is a pretty lightweight gel-cream. I suppose Frappee is a good description word for it as it’s not a gel and not quite a cream. It’s got a pretty thin consistency as far as texture and spreads evenly on the skin. After I apply, it takes seconds to dry down but my skin is left soft and smooth. Bamboo is supposed to have great moisturizing properties but I’m not sure if the moisture I feel when I use this is due to that or everything in concert. I think it’s fair to mention if you have dry skin, you will want to use something else in concert with this moisturizer, especially in the forthcoming winter months. I think it’s perfect for oily skin and those with combination skin will also enjoy this but dry skin beauties will need something heavier.

I do find the moisturizer quite pricey at $43.00 and it only took me a little over two months to get through the entire jar. But alternatively, I also really love the packaging (I’m sure that’s got something to do with the price). The moisturizer lives in this beautiful glass jar, that’s quite heavy and just screws on and off. I haven’t managed to drop this but it doesn’t seem very fragile and is sturdy.

In the end, I do recommend this moisturizer. I can’t see anyone not enjoying it. I could see myself coming back to this after experimenting with other moisturizers, as something low maintenance and effective.
