Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Makeup Stick (Suede-510) | Photos | Swatches | Review

Foundation review time!

It feels like it has been ages since I’ve done a foundation review. A couple of months ago, my skin rebelled against me. It got so bad, it started to depress me. To this day, I have no idea what caused the breakouts and subsequent scarring (probably stress-related). As a result, I wanted to find a foundation that was medium to full coverage that would cover up the damage. Which brings me to Lancome Teint Idole Ultra Makeup Stick ($42.00). This was referred to me as a foundation that had some full-coverage power, but could be toned down. Sounded perfect. Was it?

This oil-free, highly pigmented long wear makeup stick delivers buildable coverage with a natural-looking matte finish for ultra-versatile application: use as a foundation, for touch-ups, as a spot concealer, or to contour.

I have used the stick in all of the manners described above, but find that it is best used as a foundation; the kind where you use it where you need it and blend out, instead of applying all over the face like I usually do.

For those long days, full coverage, comfortable long wear… when you need it, where you need it. The foundation’s innovative extreme long-wear formula gives all skin tones a flawless, complexion-perfecting coverage. Its ultra-lightweight powder-crème texture blends smoothly for a traceless, second-skin result. Made with porous polymers that absorb excess oils, it leaves the skin looking flawless and shine-free. Plus, with ambora extract, it helps to reduce the appearance of redness. This formula is transfer-resistant and smudge-resistant, so the color-true coverage stays on all day long. Suitable for all skin type, even sensitive skin. This pigment-rich makeup stick is infinitely versatile— with ample coverage to use as a concealer, an even glide for custom contouring, and perfect portability to take with you on the go, it goes beyond your average foundation.

I picked up the color Suede (510). Lancome makes some hardcore claims about this foundation stick! Overall, I would describe this as a medium coverage foundation. While it can be built up to be full-coverage, I find the more you add to your face, the more you feel it on there. I do really like the texture of the stick, though. I don’t find that it absorbs excess oils, as a person with oily skin. If I don’t use my Mally Beauty Face Defender with this, I am definitely shiny by late afternoon. It also, does in fact transfer. For the most part, I have trained myself to not touch my face throughout the day because foundation transfer can be embarrassing. This formula will transfer and on me you can definitely tell where exactly that transfer took place because it separates. I will say that it is a plus that it contains sunscreen.

I was going to skip this part because my face was a total train wreck, but I really wanted to show the coverage and why I use it for spot coverage.

I like the foundation stick a lot and am satisfied with the coverage. A little bit goes a long way when used for spot coverage. I just dab the stick on the spot once or twice and blend out with a classic foundation brush. For a more natural look, I skip the powder for a dewy-like finish, but most days I need my face more matte because of oily face problems!
