Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick Review – Bella & Venizia (Summer 2015 Collection)

With fall rapidly approaching (I already see the leaves changing colors and feel the temperature cooling down at night), I wanted to show you all lip swatches of the Stila Stay All Day Liquid Lipstick in Bella and Venizia from the Birchbox x Stila collaboration.

I ended up trying out Bella first and my first impression of the lipstick was OMG it’s sooo bright. Too bright! It’s described as a bright pink and truer words have never been spoken! I played around with it a little and found that it is essential to clear the applicator of excess product. After one layer, I applied a second layer because it did not go on completely opaque, and had to remove it because, again — it was too bright. One layer will have to be enough. This was the same for Venizia.

Venizia is described as a bright red, but in the tube and on my lips it looks like a coral-orange so I am not sure at all why the brand would call this a bright red.

The liquid lipstick is very creamy and almost mousse-like in consistency (see Venizia above). It definitely reminds me of the Shu Uemura Tint in Gelato. Applying a very thin layer is what makes this function properly. Once I mastered application, I thought it was quite lovely. It’s comfortable on the lips and not drying for me; probably the most comfortable liquid lipstick that doesn’t transfer I have tried thus far. I applied this with and without a lip balm, but if you have extra dry lips like me, you’ll want to use a lip balm.

One other thing to take note of, is I had issues reapplying. After eating and having coffee, the lipstick does fade in the inner lips. I found that I had to remove the lipstick and reapply for the best results and not just simply retouch. This is problematic because this stuff is so hard to remove! Once it dries down, it stays and can really only be removed with makeup remover. Generally this would be fine if I could just reapply right over it, but you can’t because you can only apply one thin layer — and I don’t carry makeup remover around with me.

The bottom line is, I am glad I was able to get these in minis. I really do like them, although I can really only wear them on days that I am not working (or eating a lot!). I still have the color Beso to try out and because it’s a true red, I think it’ll be more wearable. Stay tuned!

OOO I love both shades on you! Reapplication does sound like it could be an issue tho. I've had that problem with other formulas. It's so hard to get liquid lipsticks JUST right!

It really is. I wouldn't wear it to work again though!
